What "digital innovation" do you feel the best deserves the title "revolutionary" and why?
The world is surrounded by all types of digital technologies which further more are helping the world to grow, and bring innovative designs objects. A few examples of these innovations include Apple computers, I- phones, Black Berry, I –pad, GPS, digital dictionaries and many more. The biggest digital innovation that comes into my mind would be the “Internet”, as of now, without it an average human being would not be able to function. It is because of iinternet that we have social networking sites, like face book, my space and much more. In our daily lives we are using internet for everything, seems like internet is a part of our societies and has been here for long time. The fact is internet was introduced in 1960’s, it’s been 50 years only and it looks like human life would not function without it. For today’s generation it is hard to believe a life without internet. The use of internet was allowed after 1980’s for the public; this changed the world, the style of communication, style of texting and interconnecting with peoples, co-workers and family. Basically internet brought a revolution in the world of innovation.
Today’s world uses the internet in different ways, for research purposes, for collaborating with people from different countries, buying, selling is now common on the internet. It is used by everyone, (age is not an issue, as internet has something for eveyone) for different purposes; internet covers all the target market and has something new to offer for all ages. One will never feel, that the internet has not provided them with what they demanded. It has changed how business works in the world, how people buy and sell objects, and how friends communicate. Communication is easy because of internet. Why do I think it has revolutionized the world? The answer is simple, look around you, the way we communicate, (texting, skype, MSN, facebook) and the way we buy/sell or do business in this world has changed.
Internet will grow more, the question here to ask is what would be the next innovative idea? Can the internet become a place for people to live? Where the whole life of a human will be recorded and it would be possible to make changes anytime? Where one can get what they want (physically, and not just on the screen)? There is more to come from the internet which again will revolutionize the world. As to what this change will be, the answer is yet to be revealed..................

Choose one sense and discuss a real world example that demonstrates it?
What value does a product hold for any customer? What it takes for a company to bring customers to the store and made them buy their product? The answer could be price, quality, and maybe functionality of the product, but are they good enough to insist today’s consumers? One more word can give a whole new meaning to a product- Design.The absence of this word was leading towards many product failures.
In this case I will choose the example of computers, Dell was known for their product and quality, but why many consumers prefer Apple over any other computer. The answer is simple; Apple offer what other’s are missing, the way Apple products (laptops, I-pod, I- Pad) computers are designed, there functionality, the value Apple gives to their customer by designing what is in demand.
Apple takes a simple approach, making thinks more attractive, the look and feel of the product, building the relationship between the product and consumers is what Apple is working for. All these elements give meaning to ones lives. Good design has it all, quality, human need, and best technological aspects are covered. High-quality design gives something that no one has done before, Apple gives the control in consumers hand which makes them feel more special, by letting them choose their app’s , customize there own design of laptop or laptop covers and much more. Business should comprehend this fact by now that customers are not just looking for a quality, functionality and quantity of the product, they need a good design which relates to their personality.

"Alone Together"
In this digitalized world, people without cell phone and laptops are considered old fashioned. Technologies are designed to help us complete our task fast and accurate, not to design our self and our values. Our generation is always following what is in fashion/demand, weather it is Facebook or twitter or any upcoming social networking sites. Though technology does a lot for a human, but it certainly can’t connect people emotionally, it cannot replace the value of face to face conversation. Sherry Turkle emphasis that tecnology should not be considered a substitute of face to face interaction, as digital communication has its own value and benefits and traditional comminication (face to face, hand written letters) have there own values and benefit. One should understand the difference and appreciate it too.
It seems like there is a lot of responsibilities on a person, consider this scenario, before I had a LG phone, no one ever expected that i will return there call, mails or text messages (quickly), now that i have black berry, it’s like people just assume that i will reply no matter what. Answers like; i was busy, is not accepted and coouldn’t email, call back, because i got an alert (red light flashing) which indicate that i have got the mail, and i better reply to it. Though technology makes communication easy but it also brings a lot of responsibility.
I never had twitter, MySpace or even Facebook i was considered a boring person who have no friends, though my birthday parties are crowed, i surely did proved many wrong. Having accounts on Facebook won’t guarantee you that you will have many friends, or you are really outgoing person. We humans have made social sites a big thing, and have believed that without it there is no sign of life. It seems like we are always looking for more people; around us, as if we cannot live our life alone and we always need (random) people to know what we are doing and feeling. These sites surely gives us a way to communicate with people who are living far away from us but people should not give them too much of an importance that the value of human interaction seems of no value. This is what Sherry Turkle is asking people to do; appreciate and use new technology but give importance and value to human interaction. Remember we design technology, and not the other way around.

Talk about your views/concerns about the future privacy?
The concept of Privacy is relate to anonymity, to be unnoticed/alone. In this digitalized world all the information is out in the web (space), which permit anyone to gather the information about you. Everywhere you go, surveillance cameras are following you, your phone, credit cards, Debit cards, online accounts, social networking sites, all well designed tecnologies for human convenience give away information. Nothing is private in today’s worlds. Technology is getting advanced, for anyone to access your age, name, background, and gender is only a game of one click. Alone internet has the power to store all the data; photos, twits, blogs and much more, so if all the information is out in the space for public to view, what is private then?
Privacy is a right which every individual should have; a right to be left alone and not always followed by cameras.Though all the technologies are designed for providing conveniences to their users, but they are leading towards new privacy issues; unsolved, not mentioned or acted upon. The best example can be internet and how it collects the data, most of the websites ask for personal information to access their sites, it is convenient for many people too shop at home and use different services at the cost of nothing. Though the cost is really high for that comfort, you are giving away your identity, in a space where anyone can get enough knowledge about you, where they can use or abuse your information.

Classroom: Real vs. Virtual? What are your thoughts on e-learning?
E-learning supports the notion of electronic learning on computers, virtual class room and digital collaboration. People have different view regarding e-learning process, concerns showed were: how can a person sitting in front of the screen compete with the group of people in traditional learning experience? For e-learning it should have different ways of interacting with the person, more visual effects more data presented in an intriguing way will help the information to become more relevant and interesting to the student.
The goal should be learn more in less time and in an effective manner. In traditional learning methods, it depends on the teacher or the student to make the discussion interesting, where as in e-learning I think it’s more on how the material is presented, the visual effects, data presentation, ways which make students life easier to understand the material easily and effectively. I think it will be hard for people to understand the notion of learning material through different medium - computer‘s, as we are used to traditional learning (face to face).
What will/should Web 3.0 be about? What should we be focusing on?

The idea of using computers for consumers’ interest is when web 2.0 was introduced. Before web 2.0 the internet was nothing but coding (HTML). Users could gain information but the level of contribution was zero, to give more control in users hand web 2.0 was invented. To allow users to communicate and share more information web developers introduced Social Networking sites, like Facebook, my space, twitter, blogs and wiki, where people can not only get information but they can share some of their knowledge too. Basically Web 2.0 is a different way to build application and web 3.0 will be the building on these applications.
Web 3.0 will not be different then web 2.0, the focus will still be on giving information through internet, and the only thing that will change would be the way applications were pieced together and are designed to run fast. The new application relatively will be small and will run on any form of electronic device such as mobile phone, pc or a laptop. The application will be distributed by wireless, through emails or social networking sites. I strongly believe that web 3.0 will be designed and focused on what the user wants, search engines will be more efficient. Search engines will have the capability to give what the user wants (instead of thousands of results, user will type keywords and get what they are looking for). The fact that all the information is already been collected with the help of web 2.0, this information will help web 3.0 to target specific users for the products and services they want. Web 3.0 will be design a new way of targeting people and differ way to market the products.

Deep packet inspection is a networking technology installed by many of Canada’s Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to monitor what applications are generating data traffic. ( )
DPI technology raises privacy concerns because it can involve the inspection of information sent from one end user to another. In other words, DPI technology has the capability to look into the content of messages sent over the Internet – enabling third parties to draw inferences about users’ personal lives, interests, purchasing habits and other activities. The prospective uses of DPI have significant privacy implications for Canadians, who spend a considerable amount of their lives online as consumers, professionals, and citizens.( )
